Stacy Williams Shuker, PhD
Director, Center of Innovation for Life Sciences
/ Phone: 706-829-4271
Shuker comes to the Center of Innovation for Life Sciences with entrepreneurial and research-oriented experience. After graduating from the University of Georgia with a chemistry degree and a doctorate in inorganic chemistry from Carnegie-Mellon, Shuker launched a science toy company and invented a crystal growing kit for children. She received a patent on the kit in 2004 and sold it on children’s websites and via a major retailer. Her experience also includes securing intellectual property rights and navigating the product approval process for retail sale. And, as an inventor who has been on both sides of the patent process, she understands first-hand the conception to commercialization process.
