Community Outreach

Our center works closely with rural, economically under-served, counties around Augusta and across the state; our team provides information regarding the resources of the LSIC and how businesses and entrepreneurs can access our services.

Technology Transfer

The LSIC partnership with the Medical College of Georgia facilitates connections with the technology transfer office and information about the SBIR and STTR programs available to entrepreneurs. Our office provides direct counsel to clients regarding the technology transfer process.

Matching Research Grants

Corporate members of the LSIC are eligible to participate in a matching grant program of the OneGeorgia Authority; review is provided by the Georgia Research Alliance (GRA). Innovation Center grants are designed to help companies as they explore new product ideas, move from research into development, establish proof-of-principal, collect data for larger grant opportunities, refine their product offerings to attract outside investments, and prepare to offer new solutions to medical challenges.

Innovation Center Grants are awarded to faculty engaged in sponsored and collaborative research with industry. The purpose of the grant is to conduct applied research that adds value to the industry sector of the Innovation Center.

Awards in this category are for a maximum of $100,000; however, most awards will range between $30,000 - $60,000. Awards require at least one-to-one matching support from non-state resources. The matching requirement may be met with Federal funding (including SBIR and STTR awards), industry sponsorship or other non-state support. Both the faculty and industry partner must be a member of the Innovation Center. Follow-up awards are available if the previous funding demonstrated success against stated goals and objectives, and if additional funding will be of significant benefit for the industry cluster.

While there are no deadlines for submitting applications, projects are evaluated on a first-come, first-served basis throughout the year. Generally, all awards are in place by February 1st.
