The Life Sciences Innovation Center (LSIC), located on the campus of the Medical College of Georgia (MCG) in Augusta, is a statewide economic development program launched by Governor Sonny Purdue in 2003. The center is one of six throughout the state highlighting areas of strategic focus including agriculture, logistics, manufacturing, aerospace and information technology, in addition to life sciences.
Incubator Program
Specifically, the incubator provides lab and office space, specialized equipment, access to campus resources, and business counsel. Each tenant can be assigned a mentor and a team of advisors who can help the company grow and prosper. Special attention is devoted to the new firm developing a sound business strategy focused on developing a product or service to satisfy an unmet need - and generate a return for investors.
The overall intent is to transfer technology out of a laboratory and into the commercial sector with a benefit to society. This goal is consistent with the long standing tradition of MCG , which has been providing medical care, education, and research discoveries for 175 years. We encourage inquiries and welcome participation from both experienced business people and the entrepreneurs who aspire to join their ranks.
The Centers of Innovation program is strengthened by a partnership with the Georgia Department of Economic Development, the OneGeorgia Authority and the University System of Georgia, among others.
